THE STORY BEHIND HARLIN & SON

One evening after dinner, my son and I went for a walk. He started pointing out all the hats and outdoor gear he liked — talking through what made each one cool. Somewhere in that conversation, the idea came up:
“What if we made our own?”
We didn’t have a name yet. No big plan. Just a shared love for the outdoors and the chance to do something together. Our goal was simple — create a few things we both liked and, if we were lucky, sell enough to fund a fishing trip.
He’s my oldest, and every part of being his dad has been brand new. I wanted him to see what it looks like to work hard, follow through on an idea, and take a chance.
That’s how this all started. Not from some business plan or boardroom — just a walk, a conversation, and a shared idea between a dad and his kid.
